The annual A Walk To Remember each October benefits the Alzheimer’s Resource Center, Inc. in making it possible to continue and expand the educational and support services to local Alzheimer victims, their caregivers, and family members. Walkers participate in their choice of a 1-mile, 3-mile or 5-mile route in memory and in honor of Alzheimer patients, caregivers, family and friends. Many participate as part of a team, wearing identical t-shirts and making the event a party. Others walk as individuals, part of a family, or with their pets. Participants soon find that it is more than just a walk to benefit Alzheimer’s. Local eateries donate wonderful bar-b-que, dessert treats, juices and more. Other businesses participate by donating silent auction items and door prizes that make the event seem like a celebration.
